...while making the pimliKo*peas.

Bought this book today, it cost me a small fortune, but it was worth spending it on such a treasure.

Although it may appear a little morbid... I love this image. I took it at a small bar in Warsaw.
Here's a new graff I did the other day. (Not so popular in Poland in its original version... it's Piglet:)

The plant I've had since my time at the Slade... The pot was made by a lovely friend Agnieszka Berger. The little bird comes from India.

I've no idea what the company does, but I liked the sigh against the brown brick wall.
I'm not sure where this was, it's very pretty though.

It is long since I've wrote here. The whole of a summer. It was a good summer for me, full of dancing. Mainly dancing. It was finalised with a short trip to London - such a wet place as opposed to what Warsaw was in the past months. The rain makes things shiny and that in turn makes the colours glow. I love the cupcake shape so this place was so much fun to my eye. I still keep wondering about the note "staff wanted", perhaps....

I've placed the flower there without thinking as I was moving some bits and pieces around my studio space and then the next moment I've realised how pretty it looked there.

Runaway mushrooms.

The ceiling at one of the post offices in Gdańsk.
Another of the pretty buildings in Sopot. This was by the seafront and it housed a coffee shop.
I've been away racing in Gdynia. It was a 4 day trip and I had time to go to Sopot too. I was searching for a particular bar with a friend of mine who lives there when we came across this building. It had the most lovely wooden arabesque decoration. Unfortunatelly, it was getting dark and since I wanted to preserve the colour on the fotos I didn't use the flash, so the picture is blured. It still gives a hint of what the place was like though.

On the left it's Kacperek and by him the gentle and very shy Kruszynka (meaning a crumb). I caught them sitting on the windowstill just a moment ago looking out at the sunset. A lady who lives nearby agreed to take them, so shortly they will live in their own new home.
Another little trinket that gets to travel with me wherether I move. I got this while working as a bike messenger in Warsaw. I was to pick up a package from a publishing house and one of the things I was to collect was copies of magazines. The lady was nice and gave one to me too and this was a pair of earings that came with it as a free gift. I've added a few beads and this hangs by the window so the sun shines through letting it sparkle joyously.
This's the fab retro lampshade I've had in my room.
A dear friend of mine, Małgorzata, whom I've known since early childchood takes fotos of me once and again. She once also took fotos of a flat I shared with my best ever flatmate Luka. I only got those fotos recently and it was so nice to go back to that time. I loved the flat, right in the heart of Warsaw, and I adored my flatmate who's one of the funniest people I've met. We had a lovely co-operative and he let me do all silly stuff I felt like doing like having a little garden in the kitchen of which these plants were a part.

12 maja 2008

Been away mtbo racing. Came 3rd:) On the way back from the races I bought this yoga mat. When I saw the one i 2 kinds of pink I just had to get it. The others were in grey and pink and there was only one like this. I'm very happy with it.

Side part of a paper bag from a shop in Hong-Kong. I love that stylised yet very lively and varied line and of cause the green. Had this a number of years now and I'm going to turn it into a bookmark now. One can tell I'm still going through boxes of stuff. I've been staying at my parent's country house at the moment and there are a few of those here.

7 maja 2008

This is a wrapper of a sweet I was given by a Japanese girl whom I went to swimming lessons with here in Warsaw. This was over 20 years ago! It was still communism here in Poland and we had none of the colourful things like sweets in pretty wrappers. So for me it was a real treasure. Also it was the fact that the sweet came from Japan that made it so special as already then I was well fond of art that came from that part of the world.

Perhaps it's being brought up in the South-East England that makes me love colours in light dispersed during rain.
Spring green baby.

3 maja 2008

Intricate work of nature. This leaf has been with me for years. It traveled wherether I went and I'm well surprised it never suffered any damage.
The little Aktoreńka is doing well. (It was lovely of you to ask after her Esther:) We now took her green protection dress off so the wound can heal quicker. However, we had to put that terrible plastic thing on (it makes her walk backwards sometimes). To make it a bit better we tied it with a pretty red ribbon and she looks quite stylish. Isn't she graceful? I think she is. I can't wait to take it off though. It'll stay another day or two and then mid next week we are to take her to have the stitches out. She is so patient with all this and so trustfull. Such a gentle, dear thing.
Trees by the Tigris near Nineveh. From Sannacherib's palace, still and yet so alive since 700BC.
Little jewels, although they're not at all expensive. Used to join beads, I'm sure they have a proper name in English. If you happend to know please tell me what it is.

1 maja 2008

Still spring cleaning. Managed to get all my tiny beads sorted. It did take a while. So much fun going through stuff I haven't seen for a long while.

30 kwietnia 2008

It was spring cleaning and spring awakening. I'm set to finally make the illustrations for my Malvinka stories. I think there is a girl in Barcelona who will be as happy as I am to see my pencils out of the box again:)
This little bird has been in the same treasure box as the mushroom. It comes from India. I have quite a collection of these small wooden trinkets. They're so much fun. I saw them the first time at my friend Eve's and fell in love with them. Then months later managed to find them in an indian shop in Warsaw. The bead ring I've made long time ago and though it went well with the bird:)
I got this mushroom from my friend Shihoko some years ago. She bought it in Finland. It used to grow alongside various pot plants I had and for the past months has been resting in a box of treasures. I have been looking through this box and though it was time for it to have a picture on the blog. The mushroom's very small and has grown a little tired over the years and my friend has since returned back to Japan.

29 kwietnia 2008

I remember one lazy warm afternoon hearing an old-school reggae tune on this radio. It was just perfect. (radio by duka)
I was wandering the net this morning and found a tiny green cat with a colourful company. He's at http://www.wylegarnia.pl/sklep/ekspozycja.php?id=3616 Do have a look.

27 kwietnia 2008

I found this www.curver.com. I like their products but also the web page with all its colours and I especially like the fotos of people (and the cat;) - they're a happy sight:)
Aktoreńka was very brave at the vets and it seems she's getting better quickly. She's so patient and kind.
We had to make an x-ray of Kubuń and he did put up a fight at first so it was quite something to make the x-rays but it was worthwhile. It appears he has problems with his lungs and stomach. It's all the consequence of his life in the rough outside. He was given a drug to help his lung infection. Mamuńka just run away so the vet couldn't examine her. It's quite usual with feral cats.
Poor little Aktoreńka had a bad tumor. The vet had to cut much stuff out. She's so small, even for a cat and very frail. We are keeping her in a spare room and I've slept there with her last night. I gave her blankets and built her a little 'house' but at night she walked all the way to my camp bed. I placed her next to me and she slept soundly the rest of the night. She seeks physical contact with people so much. It is strange to think that a year ago she was a feral cat. I imagine she might have had a home once in the past. But perhaps she didn't. The vet said she's about 5 years old. I've known her just over a year and she's been with me at home about 3 months now. I hope she'll be all well soon. We're going back to the vet today (taking along Kubuś and Mamuńka for a check up). It will take time for her to recover, but she is a mix breed and these are strong cats.

I went to take a foto of her in her green dress (for protection she was given this by the vet) but she was all curled up in her little 'house' so I'll post one later.

This delicate one is called Aktoreńka and is going to have an operation today. Hope it all goes well. She's so gentle.

25 kwietnia 2008

This one's from London. The trains are actually up on top of a 3 or 4 storey building in the Brick Lane area. I was on a walk with my friend Dominic when we saw those. The construction men working just beneath told us that it cost the company a thousand pounds each to buy them and then over twenty to get them up there. I cartainly liked the look of these and the graffiti is just fab. I'm not sure if it was a commission or a proper graffiti though.
A very tempting cup for a coffee. Managed to resist the temptation of buying it and made the foto instead:)
Now, I'm not too keen on tags, unless they really present skill and imagination. But I'm very fond of colour surprises on walls as I wander the city center. And this rabbit seems like just about the best example of fun graffiti. (ul.Warecka, Warszawa)

I don't know who painted it pink or wheter it was 'permitted' or just a free, spontaneous undertaking, but I enjoyed coming across it very much. (Park Saski, Warszawa)
